Previewing Florida-Alabama SEC Football Title Game

The Florida Gators taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide is viewed as a play-in game for the National Championship. In between all the talk about Tim Tebow winning a second Heisman Trophy and Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban lamenting how quickly coaches within the Southeastern Conference can get fired there actually is a football to play here folks.

Florida is considered the favorite in the game despite having one loss on the season. This one loss was to a very good Ole Miss team that has been rejuvenated under Houston Nutt. Tim Tebow, that same Heisman Trophy winning quarterback vowed that his team would play as hard as they possible could after that loss to the upstart Ole Miss Rebels in “The Swamp.”

Florida Gators head coach did not seem worried despite the possibility that star wide receiver Percy Harvin could miss the game for the Florida Gators. Urban Meyer has already developed two separate game plans; one with Percy Havin in the lineup and one without. Urban Meyer is probably confident that his Florida Gators can still keep up with the speed of the Alabama Crimson Tide given the fact that the game is being played in a dome.

Both teams are coming off impressive wins as Alabama beat the Auburn Tigers 35-0 costing the Auburn cost Tommy Tuberville his job. Florida on the other hand defeated in-state rival Florida State fairly easily. The neutral field of the Georgia Dome has seen plenty of historic sports events in its past. Things like the return game and Florida’s Brandon James could play a large role in that could make the difference. The bigger question is whether John Parker Wilson will be able to maintain his composure and not get rattled by the Florida Gators defense. Wilson has not turned the ball over much this year. Overall I think the game will be exciting for all the fans watching at home. You’ve certainly got to hand it to Nick Saban for turning Alabama around this quickly. The Florida players deserve plenty of applause for nearly going undefeated.
