Such soaps which relate to the real life problems of people are lapped up by a huge audience. In India soaps that depict family drama and social problems are great hits and they run for many years as mega serials.

Nice article but I personally hate this show. I don't relate to it at all, but then again I don't live a typical suburban housewife's life. The popularity of the show still astounds me, but to each his own I suppose. :)

I catch bits and pieces, but I can't say I'm a loyal follower. Like a soap, it's easy to pick up the story line, even if you haven't watched for a while. I do like how it combines pretty much every issue possible in such a small group of characters.
