What You Should Know Before Getting A Tattoo

Tattoos are considered as a form of skin art that comes in various designs and colors. It has become a fashion statement and an expression of one’s individuality. Many famous personalities can be, seen sporting the tattoo. It comes in several designs and symbols often representing something valuable or important whether it is a name or a Chinese character or anything that fascinates the individual wearing it.

We all know the strong influence these famous personalities and celebrities have on all of us that most of us simply want to be like them and imitate everything they do or everything they wear including tattoos. Maybe, this is the reason why many people are following this trend. Of course, some people are simply, fascinated by this type of skin art that they feel the need to have one.

Years ago, you often see tattoos mostly on men. It usually means that they are tough or they belong to some kind of group. Tattoos were not, considered as a fashion trend but as a symbol of one’s life. Nowadays, tattoos have become more than just a symbol but it has also earned its spot in the limelight of fashion.

Whether you have a scheduled appointment to get a tattoo or you are thinking about getting one, you might want to consider testing tattoos on your skin first. Having a real tattoo is a lifetime commitment and is usually quite expensive to have it removed just in case you change your mind about it after having a permanent one. It can be quite expensive and can cause a mark on your skin.

After all, who would want to see an eighty-year-old man or woman who has a tattoo? Not only does it look ridiculous but also it just does not look right. So, if you are planning to get one and you need to be in with the trend, then you might want to try temporary tattoos first.

There are many temporary tattoos in the market today. Temporary tattoos are available in several forms. They are most often a stick-on decal, which is just a very thin layer of plastic that can last on the surface of the skin for a few days to about a week at most.

Another kind of tattoo would be theatrical tattooing or what is more commonly called as body painting that can be, done with special paint or makeup. These are non-water-based paint or make-up so that they do not run or smear on your skin when you sweat. These types of tattoos or skin art is usually done at fashion shows or photo shoots where the body paint gives an illusion of clothing which can be quite cool.

Another type of skin art would be henna body painting. People often mistake this type of skin art as temporary tattooing, but henna is, absorbed by the skin and the art formed by henna ink will look like an ugly stain after a few weeks to a maximum of two months. Temporary tattooing on the other hand stays entirely on the outer surface of the skin, but has a shorter life span than henna.

Now there you have it, whether you are encouraged to have a tattoo or you simply want one for yourself, it would be better to test tattoos first before making a big leap into tattoo fashion.

Great advice! I love tattoos on other people but I'm too scared to get one myself because of the pain. I'm a wimp. :)

One solution is to get temporary tattoos first. I had a friend who had to do laser treatment to get his tattoo removed and it left a mark. That's part of my inspiration for this article.
id like to have a tattoo but my parents would nuke my existence if i ever have one done. by the way, thanks for the warning :D but i have to admit im more scared of my parents going berserk than having chemicals seep in my skin...hahaha

Oh I don't like tattoos. I have a wrong perception of people wearing them. I think its unclean and that if you're going to apply for a job, employees are not allowed wearing them. Unless maybe you have them on the body where no can see it. But whats the use of having one when cannot show it. But I have seen some great designs on their bodies. I just had a weird feeling when I touched it.
