Beijing 2008 Olympics

We all saw the Beijing 2008 Olympics opening ceremony on 08/08/2008 at 08.08pm and the excitement never stopped after that till yesterday on 08/24/2008. This Olympics has always been discussions ever since it was decided that China, Beijing will host the 2008 Olympic Games.

In the history of Olympic Games, this was the first time when a Country’s name was involved as far as hosting the event was concerned. Till this event a City has always hosted the Olympics event and not a country. The 2008 Olympics event was different and the first time Olympic Games were hosted by a country, a nation and not just a city.

China is a one of the biggest and strongest communist nation and it has always been very strict with its Foreign Policies and implementation of the same. China has recently opened its ’wall’ to foreign investments and businesses to help its economic growth. China is also in a strong competition with India as far as the Information Technology and Offshore Outsourcing is concerned.

China has most of the times been in disputes for some or the other reason. Just a few weeks before the Beijing Olympics, China experienced a strong Earth Quake, strong enough to kill hundreds of people damaging the infrastructure in Sichuan. The Olympic Torch rely also faced some demonstrations along the original route and was delayed.

After all these difficulties Beijing Olympic 2008 has become one of the most successful events just because of the way China organized and managed this event. Not to forget the awesome infrastructure they built for this event. The stadiums and buildings built for this event are truly architectural marvels. To add to all this, China also earned a whooping 100 medals! China earned 4 more Golds than their strong and traditional competitor USA.

Beijing 2008 Olympics has set an example of Hard Work, Will Power and Execution to the world. The next Olympic Games may be even better than 2008 games but the Beijing Olympic will always be a turning point in history of Olympic Games!

Hey I am from Shanghai, China. The Olympics are awesome. I am concerned that China has won too many medals. We are just disappointed at the Chinese soccer team.

it was awesome to watch the athletes compete with each other. Their expectation to win a gold is shown in their eyes. Beijing will make a mark to other host nation who wants to host the Olympics. London would try a different way to deal with it as their manpower is not as many as China.

@ 8:30 pm 09/17/08 by Ette_Rual
the english will have a hard time surpassing what the chinese people have done. and i am not only talking about the preparation of events, the stress on environmental aspects, but the number of medals as well

The Olympics is a special event, and a good chance to see new sports events that you don't normally see. I was surprised to see a game called handball that had elements of basketball and soccer mixed into it and the women players were very good at this game.

The Biejing Olympics was a magnificent show of courage, valor, talent and hope. And this year it was very special for Indians as the country got its first gold medal in an individual event. Abhinav Bindra has made the country proud.
