My Sassy Girl: Will the Blonde Version Surpass the Original?

My Sassy Girl is a true story and is actually based on the love story posted by a man named Kim Ho-Sik who posted them as a series of love letters in the internet and later adapted them into a novel. It narrates about the story of a male college student and a mysterious girl whose name was never mentioned throughout the movie (Korean version).

The movie was extremely hilarious with a good mix of romantic scenes which can really be felt by someone who watches. In fact, it became a big hit in South Korea and has even spread its popularity to nearby countries in Asia. In this western movie, the movie is set in New York Central park and the Upper East Side which are all meant to be in relation with the storyline of the movie.

This 2008, the American version of this movie is set to be released on August. Starring Elisha Cuthbert, lead female in the romantic comedy film The Girl Next Door and Jesse Bradford, who lately starred in the war film Flag of our Fathers. This western tandem has been criticized for weeks now and is being compared with the original Korean actors who portrayed the characters in the film even without the movie being released yet.

Still, we cannot say how they will portray their roles. Who knows, they might catch up with how the original movie hit the charts or even surpass it. There are only a few days to wait for before this anticipated release. This way, we can have a more objective point of view in terms of critiquing the movie, be it positive or negative.

My Sassy Girl is a really entertaining movie and as sure as it surprised and impressed Asia, hopefully it would do the same to America. This exciting and making-you-laugh-all-day-long movie surely be loved by many viewers and be cherished forever in your memories.

i have seen the original version of my sassy girl and it was hilarious. personally, the remake is ok, but i don't think that it will top the original.

hmm... i like jesse bradford, i think he's a great young actor. cuthbert, however, i have a little less faith in. most of her roles thus far have been to play "pretty girl who doesnt say or do much" so i guess this kind of falls in with the rest of what she does, haha. i have seen the original, it was incredibly amusing! i'm wary of remakes but hopefully this one will be okay!

thanks for sharing!

The Korean version is great. I believe the blonde version will surpass it.

I love foreign movies. This one doesn't sound like quite my type though..you better hope that the American adaption lives up to the original though. They usually do..but they're disappointing some times.

Americans adaption for horror movies have been very poor and let's not talk about their dubbing for original movies. My sassy gal is a very popular and famous movie in asia, the main theme song has at least two version, it's call "I believe" and it has korean and chinese version of it and they are very touching. The movie itself? Touching and funny.

Haven't seen it yet but I highly doubt it even comes close to the Korean version. Americans butcher all the remakes. Il Mare was so much better than Lake house.

^^i agree. particular those asian horror movies (the ring & the grudge) were totally butchered. the original version trumps the remake---hands down
