A common method to help prevent prostate cancer is through masturbation. Men,
who masturbate more often, are significantly less likely to develop prostate
cancer. There is a wealth of information on the web related to prostate cancer
and treatments, and is a growing concern for men in the modern days. In
underdeveloped countries prostate cancer is much greater. These countries
generally have a diet high in red meat and longer life expectancies than
American citizens, which brings us back to age being a major factor in whether
or not you get prostate cancer.
Natural ways for preventing prostate cancer are easy and cheap; many include
vitamins such as Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and more commonly known, Lycopene.
Fermented soybeans are also known to help aid in prevention of prostate cancer.
With current technological advances in cancer treatments, there are many new
blood tests and therapies that are being tested. These show promising bits of
information in the search for a cure. More often than not, prostate cancer is
not the cause of death. Chemo and other treatments have side effects that cause
death. These are vigorously being researched to prevent the treatments from
killing the individual.
Throughout history prostate cancer hasn’t had a great amount of exposure. It
was only truly discovered in 1853. It was once deemed as rare. Radiation
therapy was the most common form of therapy, until it became known for its
adverse side effects. Treatment choices are difficult choices to make. Older
men are more likely to be either, overly sensitive to the treatment, or not
respond to it well.
Rectal examinations are crucial for at-risk men. Having a trained individual
insert a lubricated finger to inspect the prostate is an important procedure.
Yearly exams are quite beneficial for the prevention of advanced prostate
cancer. However, it does not prevent DEATHS; the exams only give early warning
signs or diagnosis.
Surgery is often used as either a last option, or a first option. It is
commonly used early into the cancer development, to prevent spreading. It is
only used last if the patient has not responded to radiation or other
treatments that are available to him.
