How To Find Real Wholesalers

One way to find a real wholesalers without putting out money is to look on the back of the product you are trying to sell for the contact number. If you can’t find the contact number on the product or you don’t have the product look on the website for the contact number. This is usually simple. Call this number and ask for the number of the distributors that sell this product. You will usually be transferred four or five times so be patient. The person trying to help you may not even know what a distributor is and I’m talking from experience. So wait to be transferred to a sensible person and eventually you will receive the number to a few distributors. This works in most cases. But be prepared to pay a lot of money. Usually these distributors are the big ones and you have to buy the item in huge bulk. So have your money saved and put to the side.

If buying in large bulk isn’t for you another option would be worldwidebrands.com. They are a company that will help to connect you to almost any wholesaler you want. Many people swear by it. It cost $250 which is a lot. In most cases I would NEVER recommend a person to pay someone for a list. It’s usually is either a scam or the list is outdated. This is the one exception to the rule. This company has a program where you type what you are looking for and the program will give you a list of possible options for your request. World Wide Brands has people who are updating the list everyday. I like this company because they have good customer service. If there is something you can’t find you email them and they will do the research. Then World Wide Brands will email you back the distributors you’re looking for.

The last thing to remember which is really the first thing to remember. Make sure you have a tax I.D. No real wholesaler will sell anything to a person without a tax I.D. To get one call 800- 829-4933 or go to irs.gov to apply online. They are free and it doesn’t take long to apply, just five or ten minutes. You should now be on your way to starting your own business.

I have a sister who used to resell items from wholesalers and I remember her running into scams left and right when she was trying to find products. Great tips, thank you for sharing them with us!

Good advice on getting a tax I.D. Many freelancers swear by them, plus it keeps your social private. Not to mention it makes you seem more like a business than some amatuer looking to make a quick buck. Good article.
