Final Fantasy XIII To Be On Xbox 360
Square-Enix has announced
Final Fantasy XIII for Xbox 360 at Microsoft's E3 press conference. The announcement debuted in the form of a new trailer which initially
looked like a Panzer Dragoon game with dragons flying in a trench. A
ship lands in the trailer and flying mechanical soldiers drop out.
Included in the trailer were massive airships.
Some gameplay was shown and the cinematic graphics are still amazing. The battle system is still hard to comprehend at this point, but it's been said that it will be an ATB system. It's supposedly going to be a blend of the battle system from Final Fantasy X and from Final Fantasy XII.
As far as characters go, a female with a gunblade, and anothe indivual with blonde hair appear to be the only protagonists so far. The entire game is based on the Fabula Nova Crystalis mythology, which will be quite interesting. Here's a quote from Kiatse, the Final Fantasy XIII producer. "In the grand scheme of things, Final Fantasy XIII is probably very
different and new from anything you've seen in the series before. But,
everybody on the team has played XII and the previous titles and there
is an unseen connection there among the series."
Some people were probably worried about their PS3 release date as well though. The games still is coming out on the PS3, and it's being released on the Xbox 360 on the same day. Square-Enix has said that there will be no differences between the games, no extra features, bosses, or anything of the sort. In fact, the USA version is getting any updates from the Japan version, like extra bosses and challenges. Square-Enix has said that they just want to get the games released as soon as possible.
Details on a release date are slim, but it'll be out some time in 2009.
