Paid Social Networking site a.k.a MyLot: Scam or for Real?

There once was a time (back when I was in high school, 1996) when the internet was viewed only as a research tool, or if you were a bit on the "social" side then you were on mIRC (one of the very first chatting portals) with a nickname ranging from joy16f to zombie2009 to whatever.

A new era had risen in the years that came after that. Nowadays, there are so many ways with which we could chat: Skype, Yahoo! Messenger, Meebo, etcetera. One can even chat with "voice" and with "webcam". About 10 years ago those were the things we only dreamt about but now they are for real.

With chatting evolved social networks with the likes of Friendster and Multiply, and forum boards such as the now-closed friendshipforum. We met a whole new set of virtual, who eventually became real friends.

But the best evolution is the paid to browse social sites: the advent of sites such as www.MyLot.com. This site is almost identical to forum boards but the upside is that you get paid for signing up and for practically anything that you do on site.

In your current social network site, are you: Always uploading all those nice photos of the night out with friends? ...Always posting those cute little comments on your friends' pages? ...Always posting on the bulletin boards those "tests", jokes, information? Well, each time you do that on MyLot you get a corresponding amount equivalent to the length and quality of your post. The better and the longer the post, the bigger is the rating! If other users respond to the discussion that you initiated you earn more points/money.

With the advent of paid-to-socialize sites came the birthing of scam sites. So is MyLot one of those?

As far as the people who had been posting on the forums for months on end, it's not. They pay out monthly up to the smallest dollar cent that you earned! That is, as long as you reach the minimum $10 payout. But trust me guys, if you love socializing and is almost always posting something you can reach that minimum in less than 1 month.

I for one have only posted some 20 discussions/comments since I've started and I have already earned almost $1. The more you post the more you earn, so if I had only posted more I could have earned more! I didn't have my own computer that's why I only earned a little. But now that I have one, I am trying to post more stuff.

The site is also very easy to use and very user friendly. A non-techie like me felt right at home. If you get confused, you can always post a discussion and ask someone's help. You can earn from that post and at the same time find the answer to your dilemma.

Why not check it out? And see for yourself if this is truly a site worth spending your time and efforts.

Precisely, mylot is legitimate and does pay. I have received my first payout here
( $ 16.97 ). The good thing here is that when you reach your minimum $10.00 figure, you can increase your earnings before payout and it will be transferred to your paypal account or your preferred payment system whatever money you have in your mylot account.

I realized that I did not give the readers a link to the site. Here's the link guys, then all of us can earn with MyLot. And thank you Agihcam for the comment. I appreciate it very much.

There are many more sites which pay its users to do some activity on their sites. There also are websites like yuwie.com which pay users just for making friends and carrying all the activities you would usually carry on a site like orkut.com.

But the pay is so tiny that you hardly earn at the end of the month. On sites like these the key is to get more and more referrals in your downline and they will do the work for you.

But in case of mylot.com, referrals are not important. Of course having referrals would add to earnings but you can good good without them too.

Good one.

You are right, there are many such websites but finding good ones (=pays good) is difficult. I have tried yuwie and dada but these sites let you earn very very little for your efforts. SO I guess we'd better stick with MyLot.
I'm part of mylot too...I've gotten paid 2 times in less than 3 month, I do think it takes a hard work to reach it...but I'm not there for the money, since I do Yahoo questions and they give me nothign back, so why do it for free?

Wow, that's nice that you've received payout twice in just three months. I wonder when I'll ever reach payout ;O)

I have been a member on mylot over 2 years now. When I first started it was a different site altogether. It paid better and quicker. Since the pay is harder to get a little and all the new layouts and the stars and all that nonsense. It isn't a scam at all though. It does pay out and I have received payments without any problems. It can be fun to read the posts and respond but I would certainly not call it a social networking site. It is really just a pay to post discussion board and the emphasis is not on networking like mylot and all that.... This is why there is limited options on friends and so forth. It isn't the point to make friends really but to actively engage with discussions and posting. (And clicking their adsense)

Does that mean that you have been paid by mylot for a lot of times already? That's great to hear. Newbies are sometimes skeptical of these kinds of sites especially when the payout is high ;O) Thanks for the enlightenment.

Ya, even I am the part of myLot, and I found that Its very difficult to reach payout, but by referral you can do great job.

I think that referrals are not really key to earning in mylot but posting long replies to discussions. Quality comes before quantity in this site, I was told. Maybe you should to post longer than 5 lines ;o).

i too am part of mylot, though i have yet to reach the minimum payout. i have got a couple of referrals, unfortunately they're not active. actually, i never obtained any earnings from their activities---because they do not have an activity.

I only have one referral who posts about once or twice a week. I earned about $0.05 ;o). But it's alright, I guess that we have to rely on our own efforts here. Are you interested in other sites that pay better than mylot? You may also check my website for some links ;O)

But I have a big start this month and have reached the minimum as early start of august, so I was just waiting for the site to send the payout hopefully this week.
i reached the minimum payout middle of this month. i just hope, i get to receive the same first week of november. *fingers crossed*

I'm Getting Paid

@ 2:39 pm 10/02/08 by Lee
I'm not a member of mylot but signed up wih www.6dgr.com/unlimited. It's like MySpace with pay. Pay is every 2 weeks with direct deposit onto a debit card which they provide free as long as you get 5 referrals a month or more. They pay 3 levels $4,$3,$2 and just for people signing up and opting to get paid. It's pretty easy. I noticed it takes about 2 weeks or so to show as pending. They also provide residual income when your network uses their debit cards to make purchases. See for youself.
