Soothing Bath Milk Recipe

In today’s stressful world, it is often that a long hot bath is one of the most desired things. Sometimes that is the only vacation that the busy moms of the world get. To look themselves in the bathroom with some steaming hot water and a good book they have been trying to read for months. The recipe below if for a soothing bath milk that will not only leave you feeling relaxed but will also leave you skin feeling silky and soft. It will help soak away the dry and flaky skin that comes with the winter months. The ingredients are pantry basics or can be gotten at your local grocery or discount store.

 What you will need is

1 Cup Powered Milk (brand does not matter, I use the cheapest stuff at the grocery store)

1 Cup Baking Soda (Sam’s sells huge bags of this cheap!)

1 Cup Sea Salt (Epsom salts can be used if you cannot find Sea Salt)

1 Cup Oatmeal (Again brand does not matter. Just a canister of old fashioned oatmeal)

Fragrance as desired

Now the instructions are just as simple and easy as the ingredients.

1.   In your food processor or blender, add the 1 Cup of Oatmeal. Turn on and make into a very fine powder.

2.   Once Oatmeal is ground, add Sea Salt and blend again.

3.   Now add the Baking Soda and Powdered Milk. Pulse just enough to mix ingredients well together.

4.   If you are adding a fragrance to this, I recommend taking it out of the food processor or blender and putting it into a Ziploc bag. Add only a few drops at a time and kneed into the dry ingredient mixture. Repeat until desired smell is reached.

Now all that is left to do is add it to your bath water and demand peace and quiet for an hour or two. You can add as much or as little to your bath as you would like but generally, I would use about a half a cup per bath. However, you could prefer more.

Each of the ingredients could be used separately if you do not have everything to finish the recipes. They have benefits that are beneficial to the skin. Oatmeal has soothing properties that can calm minor skin irritations like scraps and rashes. Baking soda is also a soothing agent that can soften skin and help with itching of dry and flaking skin. Sea Salt is rich in minerals that help replenish and revitalize the skin. A quality Dead Sea salt is best. Powdered Milk works as a moisturizing agent because of its fat content and lactic acid.

Sounds good. I am not a busy mom (I am a busy dad) but I love to take those hot and steaming baths. I usually buy the sea salt and add it to the bath. This also helps to relax and makes the skin very soft. I would definitely try this suggestion though.
