Learn to Blog

"How do I get people to read my Blog?!??!"

There is no magic that would help this nor rubbing a genie lamp would help. It is time to take yourself into consideration.

  • Write/think good
Bloggers should keep in mind that the thoughts that come into your mind might not always be right. Therefore, try to think twice before writing. Also, that doesn't mean that you have to write what your readers like. Just take care that it doesn't hurt a community's feelings.

  • Learn grammar
This is one part that many Bloggers tend to neglect or are too annoyed at being pinpointed at their mistakes. Learn to use capitals wherever necessary and try to use commas and brackets to help people read and help communicate a lot better. Also, try not to use any shortforms like "ilu muntasar coz ya tot me 2 lurn grammah" << this won't work!

  • Post a post in a day
Okay, so you might have opened up your first blog and are crazy to pour all your thoughts in there. Calm down dude, why are you in such a hurry. Save some thoughts, develop it and try to think more about it. Maybe they are worng or they might be right, after all it's your blog.:)

P.S:- The title doesn't seem what it looks like. What I am trying to say is that the world isn't ending tommorow, so why hurry?

  • Good layout
Having a colorful layout with all that java and flash will ruin your blog. Even today, many people rely on dial up internet and they try to be in touch with all the good blogs they can be into. Making a site full of flash and java widgets make the site look like crap but also decrease the amount of readers in your blog. You don't want to break any of those people's hearts, do you?

People can post their opinions and objections in the comments section below. I would love to hear them.

But you can't get lot of traffic by doing all you mentioned in the article. You gotta leave messages in other people's blogs. That might be helpful.

Cmon dude, I said "read" not "traffic". I hate when people have all those thoughts and they try to express it, but lack of grammar makes people close the site. Frankly I have done that many times because I would be better off reading some other blog.
Anyways, thanks Yang.

Great first article, I found it easy to read with the sub headings. I have not wrote a blog before but I am interested in writing one. I think it was a good point that you wrote about take your time to write on your blog. I think a lot of people don't think before they write on their blogs.

Blogging

I think that you are talking about readership here, which includes traffic. It rather hard to separate the two! Attracting, and more importantly, keeping readers is what makes a blog popular. (Or something that people want to come back to.) I have to disagree on your thoughts about posting, however. If you can post daily, that is ideal - it gives your readers more to come back to. There are ways to post without sitting at the computer once a day, too. On the flip side, I do agree that blindly typing without checking for grammatical and spelling errors is fatal - very few will visit again when they see that kind of writing. It really depends upon the purpose of your blog, though. If you are just posting to vent and offer personal ramblings, that's one thing. Professional bloggers, however, adhere to many of the ideas that you suggest. Congrats on your first post and keep writing!
