David Archuleta's Stage Dad Will Hurt His Future Career

Stage parents will always be here to stay.

Lindsay Lohan has mom Dina, Britney Spears has Lynn and pretty much every other young upstart has some parent wanting a share of the limelight. It's not just wanting to guide their kids towards greater popularity that drives them to hog the stage, a lot of it is really wanting to live the "star's" life that their kid enjoys.

Now the latest in this list of creepy, domineering parents is Jeff Archuleta, son of the giddy, teenage contestant of American Idol. Young David is an immediate catch, with his boyish good looks, powerful singing voice and friendly, humble demeanor. Frankly speaking, he's sure to go places. Even now, as one of the contestants of American Idol, David Archuleta already has legions of women and teenage girls fawning over his every move. He's pretty much the latest boy-next-door.

But could his dad's territorially expansive ways be his downfall? Daddy Archuleta is pretty much counting his eggs before they hatch, practicing his domineering ways even before David is actually declared winner of American Idol. Recently, he was banned from American Idol premises for messing with his son's song (adding a verse from Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girl" to it) that led to quite an additional expense for the production.

Frankly, if David Archuleta does win and go on to national stardom, Jeff Archuleta could be the anvil tied to his young neck. His dominance won't end with getting banned by the AI staff; it's going to get a whole lot worse when his son finally becomes an actual popstar. Jeff Archuleta will be no different from the stage fathers and mothers who came before him.
Worst, he actually has the gall to mess with the creative process. The fact that he thought he could improve his son's performance with a Sean Kingston verse (what he thought that could achieve, I don't know) is enough to send chills down my spine.

I certainly hope David Archuleta manages to step out of his dad's shadow somehow. Otherwise, all the luck in the world can't keep his young career afloat for long.

You are talking about a person you don't even know. Shame on you, spreading gossip like this.

There are more grammatical and spelling errors in this article than in a fifth grader's first essay. Get some education and some credibility and then start writing opinions. In the meantime, go clean some toilets.

@lomi - I'm responding to actual media reports. It's my opinion, not gossip.
@youvegottabekidding - you're free to point out my grammatical and spelling errors (though I can't exactly find any, except for that booboo where I called his father the "son" -->yes, messed up, but not exactly a grammatical error now is it?). When you're done being high and mighty, maybe YOU can write your own opinion.

You are an idiot! Quit spreading the media gossips! If you are going to do that, then at least have the courtesy to also report the otherside of the story, especially those told by David, his dad, and people who actually know them.

alleged stage dad

New rumors are that AI producers are doing quite a bit of meddling themselves. They allegedly allowed David A to rehearse an upbeat version of 'Longer' for 2 weeks, then made him stick to the old boring version at the last minute...And David A asked for 'Dont Want To Miss a Thing', but they decided Cook would get it...this is why they didn't want Daddy being in there, fighting against such tactics. They now believe Cook to be more profitable prospect, and they are doing anything in their power to make sure he wins. And Syesha originally asked for 'The First Time', but then it was decided that Cook would get it. And about the lyric change last week...obviously Archie had to rehearse that song, etc. They knew about it! It's just ridiculus.

Hey, I concede I may have been a bit brash about it, but no need to shoot me for my opinion. I appreciate Mitzi's intelligent comment, by the way, because she posted a response regarding the TOPIC, not my IQ level.
I'm just speaking about stage parents in general. And in case you want to shoot people who don't share your opinions, you might want to check this even more opinionated blogger: http://idolator.com/389264/jeff-archuleta-banned-from-american-idol-rehearsals-david-archuleta-fans-give-world-another-reason-to-believe-that-journalism-is-in-a-bad-place-right-now

This has happened many times over, not just in American show biz, but in other countries. Obviously, it hasn't been much publicized, but it's there. Parents (except in rare cases) will always try to exert their authority over children, on the premise that they know better than their kids. I won't be surprised if Jeff Archuleta is that kind of parent... provided that the report is true.

To everyone who's hitting on KDChoi, lighten up people. She's expressing her opinion. Frankly, if you guys really want to hit on someone for hitting on your precious David A., there's a whole lot of bloggers/sites out there who have written worse, and are downright bashing the Archuletas.
