Cristiano Ronaldo's Road to Success
Cristiano Ronaldo, starting off playing football in the streets of Portugal, has managed
to get himself to the top. He has Won many presitgious football awards, including
Players Player of the year, Fans player of the year, Player of the year and
young player of the year. He is one of the only two players to win PLayers player and
young player in the same year. The other player being Andy Gray.
So how did he get this far? Where did it all begin?
In this article, we'll be looking at just that.
He began kicking a football about when he was 3, and by the age of 6 his
passion for sport was obvious. His favourite football team was Benefica,
even though he would later join their rivals, Spoting lisbon.
First he played for an Amateur team, at the age of 8. By the time he was 10, he already had
a growing reputation in Portugal. He then signed for CD Nacional, and left for Sporting Lisbon
pretty soon.Ronaldo joined Sporting's other youth players who trained at the Alcochete,
the club's "football factory," where he received first-class instruction. But he was taunted,
for his Madeiran accent.Despite this, He is the only player to have gone from the
Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, B team and first-team within a season. He scored 2 goals in
his First team Debut and was recognized by Potugal. It was after he played for Portugal,
that he was fianlly seen by the whole world, and was subsequently signed at
Manchester United.He would replace Beckham, and take up the number 7 shirt. The number
that previously belonged to Beckham, and before that; George Best.
He made his debut, scored in his second match, became a regular starter, and the
rest is history. He was signed for 12.14 million, and now Manchester United have
put a minimum of 100 million on him. The best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo.
