Assassin's Creed Plot Summary
The story of assassins creed is set in the near future, you as Desmond Miles. A young bartender captured by a large pharmaceutical company for an unknown reason. Your captors are an old nasty male scientist and a kinder female assistant. He (scientist) likes to strap you into a mysterious machine that lets him see your ancestors memory which is supposedly held in Desmonds DNA. For some reason they are very keen to find the memories stored in one section of your DNA. However, Desmonds subconscious self seems to go rather crazy when they try to access it, and the only way it can be accessed is if Desmond lives through key moments of his ancestors life, to ease him mentally into that final memory. Giving a good excuse for letting you kill 9 historically important people in the course of the game (plus a few billion guards).
Your ancestors memories are that of Altaïr Ibn La-Ahad, a master assassin belonging to the Assassins Order during the 12th Century, also at the time of the Third Crusade. You are somewhat disagreeable to your fellow brotherhoods Creed and end up screwing up a very, very important mission because of this. As a result your master gives you a good smack on the bum (if only), and also with your dignity you loose many of your weapons, free running skills and ranks. To redeem yourself back to the former Master Assassin that you were, and more importantly regain your useful skills and weapons, you have to stab at least nine important people in the neck.
As you successfully drop your victims by stabbing a hole through their carotid artery, you learn a few weird and fascinating things about them. Firstly they are all VERY talkative while they die, which is weird because your blade did slice a hole in their trachea, and blocked quite a bit of blood going to their evil brains. Secondly, they all give you riddled messages which make Altaïr somewhat confused at the beginning. However, as the body count increases, the player at least will begin to guess whats going on, even if Altaïr doesnt, and figure out how these people are connected. If you are slow, dont worry, the game will explain everything and more importantly surprise you quite a bit
The surprise is the exposure of a tenth bad guy when you have a jolly conversation with your bleeding out ninth victim. So after all that, its the classic, youre the only one that can save the world! (Not that thats a bad thing).
After you semi-save-the-world as Altaïr, the game brings you back to the real world as Desmond, in front of the now rather excited old man scientist, who has alerted the company about the whereabouts of the thing they were looking for that was hidden in Desmonds memory. He decides to kill you but luckily female assistant saves your ass with the power of words. To counter the rather unfortunate outcomes, Desmond finds that he can use a somewhat special power of his ancestors (no, very sadly not your free running, building scaling skills). This power will make those bland looking laboratory walls you were trapped in for so long look even more daunting
Some say that these are clues as to where the sequels of the game will be set. I just hope that the sequels will have as much of an amazing story as this game.
