Is That a Sport? Ten things you wouldn't believe are sports.
Here they are, from 10 to 1.
10. Zorbing
Zorbing is a sport in which you enter an inflatable ball and roll down a gentle slope. There are two types of Zorb, Harness and Free. With a harness you strapped in, however with a free Zorb you roll freely inside the ball. Its a sport quite a few have heard of, and therefore is only number 10.
9. Elephant Polo
As you probably imagined it just like polo, except on elephants. And there are two people per elephant, one to handle the elephant and one to hit the ball. The polo sticks are just a tiny bit longer
ok, a lot longer. The riders are roped in so they cant fall off, and the elephants cant pick the ball up themselves (poor things).
Unfortunately the elephants cant lie down in front of the goal.
There are dung collectors on the sides to pick up any unwanted mess!
As this is Polo, it only gets a 9.
8. Bossaball
A rather bizarre looking sport, if stumbled upon you may think its a fair.
Its played on a large bouncy castle like trampoline, and is roughly the size of a volleyball pitch. Actually, it is volleyball really volleyball on a trampoline to music. Thats right; music is an essential part to this sport. The referees have to provide a backing track to the game!
You can use any part of you body to stop the ball hitting the ground, and a good team will have the person at the net bouncing high to hit the ball straight down.
Its played first to 30.
7. Fives
Fives is and old English sport originating in Eton College. The school boys used to hit the ball with their hands against the wall of their church and, like squash, the ball has to hit the back wall to be the next persons ball. The first to 11 is a winner, but Eton Fives isnt as easy as it looks. There are obstacles and angles on the wall. Plus, serving is a nightmare, I play Fives and its a bit hard to write about. Fives has been adapted into Winchester Fives, Eton Fives and Rugby Fives to name a few. All of them have different courts, with Rugby Fives being the simplest. It gets a seven for the unique idea.
6. Ultimate Frisbee
Imagine playing Frisbee with your friends in a park, or your dog. Now try and make that a sport
Hard right?
Whats the aim? Like American football, you must catch passes in the end zone to score. You must score 15 points to win, but each player only has 10 seconds to pass, or the Frisbee changes possession. Its a non-contact game which has no referee! It gets a 6 for the original idea.
5. Underwater Hockey
Yup, just when you thought ice hockey was slightly weird; imagine melting the ice, and swimming underwater with the puck on the bottom of the pool?
The goals are underwater, and the sticks are no more than 350mm long!
The puck resembles an ice hockey puck, and the swimmers wear gloves, fins and snorkels so they can play better. The other name for this is Octopush!
So, this sport gets a 5 for a whole new level of hockey!
4. Goat racing
Goat racing originated in Falmouth in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The sport consists of racing goats, nothing really special. Why 4? Well, because Im still wondering - why goats?
3. Curling
And you thought boules was weird. Well Curling is a game where you push a smooth rock along ice onto a target. The closer you are, the more points you get. But thats not that weird, whats weird is thats there are people who scrub the ice in front of the rock with brushes to help it slide. It reaches 3 because watching it at the Olympics is a laugh.
2. Sepak Takraw
Yes, believe it or not it is a sport only people in South East Asia have heard of.
The sport resembles volleyball however; you may only hit the ball with your feet, head or body. This ends up with some awesome moves including flips and spins.
1. Speed Stacking
You wouldn't know that stacking plastic cups is a sport. Well, theres a certain routine to stacking the cups, the best of stackers can complete it in 6 or so seconds. Listening to the clacks of the cups is amazing and you cant see the hands move. They have massive worldwide competitions and its ever in the Guiness World Records 1999, Under Sports!
This is the strangest sport by far; anything stranger would have to be on the Nintendo Wii.
Think there are stranger? Post what you think is the weirdest sport!

Since they race horses, dogs, and frogs, goats may as well join the list.
