Dominate an Online Niche With Free Blog Business

Niche marketing lines the pockets of dozens of internet gurus. These people make content rich websites and churn out keyword specific articles for marketing purposes and back link building. They use Google Adwords to purchase click throughs that are targeted to a specific keyword niche. But you do not have to spend a lot of money to get in on the profitable business or online niches.

Most people know what blogs are. Most people already have one. What if you could build a blog just as easily that creates a true income for you every month?

In order to dominate a niche – that is, get listed in the top search results on the big search engines like Google – you need to pick a very specific niche. Your niche will be your exact keyword phrase.

How to Choose Your Niche?

Use a keyword research tool such as Wordtracker or the Google Adwords tool to search for keyword phrases that get at least two hundred queries per month. Two hundred does not seem like a lot, but since you are focusing on targeting, it is a fine amount for a niche blog. Why not choose a keyword phrase with more searches? Because those also have more search engine results.

Picking a niche you can make a profitable blog out of depends more on how few search results there are, than how many searchers. Low competition is the key to profit.

Once you find that low competition keyword phrase, start your blog. Remember that everything in that blog should have that keyword phrase in it: every post, every article, every picture, every tag on the page should include your keyword phrase.

That does not mean you should use your keyword phrase indiscriminately all over your niche blog. Use only ‘white hat’ search engine optimization practices: no hidden keywords. Also, be sure to include great information your readers will want to subscribe to.

Dominating a niche market is easy with a free blog. After choosing the niche keyword and getting up some quality content and pictures using that keyword phrase, it is time to monetize your blog. Do not go overboard. Some contextual advertising, such as Google Adsense, and one or two affiliate program products will work.

Dominating a niche market online is not as hard as it sounds, even with a free blog. Remember that success online is largely about quantity of traffic. Keep track of where your traffic is coming from and build on your success. Profit will follow.

A couple of things that I read here that are a bit misleading.

1. If you want to make money on a niche blog it will take a heck of a lot more than 200 searches per month. Especially, if you are monetizing with contextual ads or other advertising. The only way you're going to make money with so few search results is if you're selling your own product and it is an expensive product.

2. Dominating a niche could be quite difficult. It requires a well thought out link building campaign including blog commenting, forum posting and article submission to name a few.

3. While you could do it with a free blog why would you? Let's say your bog becomes very successful and it's hosted with some free service. Who owns the virtual real estate? I'll give you a hint... It's not you.

I think it's best to host your own WordPress blog(s) on your own domain name(s) and you'll always be in control of your business.

I agree that hosting your own blog is ideal, though free blogs can get you started and create some sort of income. This was not, after all, an article about how to get rich with niche marketing.

The 200 searches a month can create a niche - a very targeted niche. I was vague. I wasn't talking about dominating one of the mega niches. With proper keyword research, you can dominate a highly targeted niche with normal internet marketing methods. And I wasn't clear on what type of income you can expect. One niche like this is not going to make you a full time income by itself.
