Sims 3 - Is it that good?

So, I found out that Sims 3 is on its way, and decided to write an article about it. Then, looking at it I realized... What’s new?

First of all, the Big Bang is the new "walk around the neighbourhood" idea. Apparently, we now get to walk to our neighbour’s house, to the mall, to school and to work.

What's new? I seem to remember this happening in the original Sims with the expansion pack The Sims Unleashed.

In the old Sims, you couldn't go though the neighbourhood, but just arrived at your destination, which, quite frankly is all you need to do. Hey, even in Sims 2 University you could go streak on the street!

There is also a whole new level of customization. You can now change furniture colours, patterns, and material. Hey, don’t forget the all new Sim customization! You can now choose the EXACT skin tone, even more precise hair styles and even a new personality creator which apparently is "Innovative".

This leads us back to my first point, what’s new?

I think most people ill be disappointed with the lack of new things in the game, lets be honest, it's the original game which has been soupped up. We could always design our Sims and their personalities, we could always choose our furniture (and lets be honest the selection wasn't small), we could even have a pet!

By the second one, we could build Massive houses, massive neighbourhoods; we could go clubbing, bowling and even make them do ballet!

The answer: unless EA have some massive secret about their new game then there is nothing new. All the game really is is a better graphics version of the previous two in their series, and I think it will show in the sales. Why buy something you already have?

Sure, the new graphic make the whole thing look appealing, the screenshot look as if you can build apartment blocks and it seems neat meeting people in the park, but do we need all this?
I personally think they've gone over the top with the new Sims, and I still would recommend the first one, or if you like graphics maybe even the Sims 2. I still think that this new one seems to be lacking all the original greatness of the first one.

What they could do, and i would like to see, is make a Sims/Sim City mix where you could play the Sims in a city you built. That would be awesome, as you could either play the Sims or Sim City in the same game. Imagine all the possibilities, having a tornado while playing the Sims!

Well, I hope you enjoyed this review, and please tell me if I’m wrong, but I won’t be grabbing this off the shelves anytime soon.

Sims 3 will contain a trait system, meaning assigning personalities will be more realistic compaired to Sims 2, in which you drag 5 sliders, the trait system will allow you to select from over 70 different personalities.

Also, I believe you forgot to mention that the new Create A Sim screen will allow for more customization of body types, with the ability to make extremely overweight or muscle bound sims.

There is other features, such as the unlimited in game customization, the ability to create your own terrians, the seamless neibourhood (allowing you to visit neibours) and other features. Sorry to sound angry, I just wanted to point those features out.

Otherwise, good report you have written... :D

You do realise how early it is still right?
Far too early to write a review, by all means.

I'm sure EA and Maxis have got a lot of big stuff planned for Sims 3 but are yet to tell us. It's called suspense, in case you haven't heard of it.

This review has annoyed me because you're so negative and pessimistic. There's still another year before Sims 3 is released, which means another 12 or more months for Maxis to feed us with information about the new game.

I personally can't wait for it. It already looks really good.

This isnt a review. I noticed it was coming out and i saw a fatal flaw in the game. If they dont give us the information then we arent going to buy it. I'm sorry you have different views from me but I dont like not knowing what im buying.
