Captology- Discover the way to pursue people…
The word captology comes from the phrase Computer as a Persuasive Technology. It is the technology to attract people online. The term captology is not widespread as only Stanford University has it as a Course. It talks about the design, analysis and research of computing product or software or website i.e. facebook. In this article I will not cover the entire topic related to captology, but I will discuss how to impress people over internet when the target product is your own website.Starting with an example, think about the facebook application. A lot of users use these applications to make fun since they do not know why they have chosen that application to enjoy. As captology technique is applied here so people get convinced seeing the application. Now we need people to read our website. So we have to convince people with the text and graphics of the site. To attract people you need not to provide extreme graphics design. Extreme graphics design is not SEO (search engine optimization) friendly; rather you can use simple but eye-catching graphics. Try to write your heading of any topic as impressive as possible. Use some attractive word in bold format i.e. great news or breaking news, killing fact, find the truth, discover the secret etc.
Talk with online people to ask them about their liking and disliking. When you knew these you can write topics about the things people like. Same thing is applicable for internet application. Make your content short but complete, easy to understand and informative.
Captology does not bring user to your site or application but it make people read or join any application. One thing about it I should say that the taste of people will get changed as the time flows. So you need to take feedback from the users or viewers periodically- that is why many survey companies have grown up. It helps greatly to understand the demand of time. Add attractive feature and offer in your site or application so that people will enjoy these. And remember to change or update them according to the people’s likings.
Best way to attract people is to keep some funny and eye-catching stuff in your site. Do not fill your site with a lot of funny stuffs, which will not sound good unless it is a fun site. Fun sites are always attractive ones. But for other site I should say to entertain people while providing quality information.

Captology is Widespread

If you type the term into Google, it returns over 25,000 pages. People are using the term and derivatives of the term around the world and it is an avid academic pursuit in Europe.
