Obama ain't driving Miss Daisy

Unequivocably democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama says he will not be the vice presidential running mate for his distinguished competitor Hillary Clinton.

Despite claims of keeping the "race issue" out of the 2008 presidential nomination process it is apparently clear ( at least to this viewer) that Obama's "heritage based pride" has stepped into the current political arena. It appears that Obama simply cannot fathom the idea of his being another african american male disposed to catering the agenda of a caucasian, superior ranking woman. No Miss Daisy, those days are long gone.

We have to speculate as to whether there exists any african american male in America that has the leadership qualities of a presidential candidatewho is truly content to settle for the not so coveted second spot. Only a man, who can truly set the Democratic Party's political needs over his personal needs for individual acomplishment, be truly prepared to ride shotgun while leaving personal bias in the back seat.

So, the question is, "Who will be the Democratic running mate for Hillary Clinton should she prevail in her bid for the Democratic Party presidential nomination?" How about Al Sharpton? No disrespect but that is another story for another time.

Friday Obama denounced the oratorical outbursts of his long time church pastor who condemned the United States as being the cause for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Among his beliefs is the belief that Hillary Clinton can never know what it is like growing up in America as a "nigger." On reflection, does Barack Obama relate to being such in America or is he simply a "wanna be" seeking to use that status when it is advantageous? If he can positively find the correlation from his life to this such a status, then how can Obama truly keep race out of the political arena when he feels this way?

Being an American is a very taxing thing to be. Being an african american in this country has also been a difficult thing to be. The true meaning of being American has been lost over the years and even though we reflect on this country's founding fathers and their actions to establish this great nation (right or wrong) we lose sight of the original goals and beliefs even after disounting our original sins of racial discriminations.

No, Obama's race will definitely be a factor despite trying to say it is not. However the manner in which it is used, and yes even abused, will determine the outcome of not only the nomination process this year but american perceptions of race and subsequent equality for at least the next decade.
