Why AP Drops After an Article Gets Published?

Hey guys, it feels like a long time since I posted something in this blog. The reason for the delay is that I have been doing a lot of work behind the scenes of the Informative Post.  I am designing a whole new layout, and I am working at implementing some of the features that you guys have been requesting.  I plan on releasing some screen shots within a few weeks to show you guys my progress.

Back to the subject at hand.  Ok, I have been receiving a few emails from some authors that are expediting articles, but don't understand why their AP, or Author Priority, drops when they expedite their articles.

First I should explain again how AP is calculated to give you a better understanding why it drops when you expedite.  Author Priority is a number that is calculated mainly from the average page views your articles have received.

So let's say Author Sam has one published article that has received 1000 page views so far, and his sister, Author Sally, also has one published article with 1000 page views.  This means that their AP ratings will be nearly the same.

Now Author Sally wrote another article that got published.  Now she has two published articles with a total page view count of 1000 because her new article hasn't received any page views yet, giving her an average of 500, thus dropping her AP rating lower than her brother Author Sam.

I hope that explanation wasn't too corny for you, but I hope it cleared up some of the fog.

It is important to understand that if you already have a high AP rating, I would advise you not to expedite your article. There have been times when someone expedited an article that was already in my queue to review next.  Needless to say I still paid them.

Expediting articles are meant to be used by authors with a low AP rating, who would otherwise never get their articles reviewed.

Well guys, if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.  Also, if you have any creative ideas or suggestions that I should add on the next update to the site, let me know as well.  You all know that I am sincerely open to suggestions you guys give me.

Thanks for the explanation :) Yes I do have a suggestion: increase the number of articles one can submit at one time from 2 articles to at least 5 articles. When that author's turn to be reviewed comes, he/she would be able to get paid of at least 5 articles.

I second the above comment - would give me incentive to write more.

I don't want the focus of earning money on this site to turn into write more content, will make you more money. I want it to be, writing "quality" content will make you more money. That is why the max is at 2 articles for now, giving authors time to market their articles and not just write more and more content.

How long does it take for an article to get reviewed if the AP rating is 12 and there are 84 people with a higher AP than me?!?!?
Its been almost 2 days...

If you have a timely piece to submit, like news, or a hot topic, this doesn't work. A lot of fresh viewers will get lost. They will go elsewhere. Quality content can still be written if you are trying to make money. Some people are able to get articles out more quickly.

ok, this post is not about blogs. I know that but I noticed you are into computers. How in goodness name do I get a blog and how do I set it up to work with all the companies I write for. I am so lost right now. I know you can make a lot more if you have a blog and I want one but just don't know what it is. Is it like a personnel website? Thanx so much for your help.

I agree. Increasing the article queue to 5 would make the IP family more motivated and into it.

I do plan on increasing the article queue count. Not sure what limit I will set it at though. I was also thinking about just removing the limit altogether.

The only reason why the limit was set in the first place was so that authors don't spend a whole bunch of time writing article after article with their AP rating being so low that none of their articles would get reviewed anyway.

Maybe I could increase the limit of the article queue depending on their AP rating...

that's would be good. say when a writer has a 50 AP rating, his queue can increase to 5 and so on.
