Politicians and Their Many Scandals

It’s funny to me how men are the majority of the wrong doers in politics. If I were married to a man and he decided to be in politics, I think I would reconsider marriage knowing what I know today about how corrupt politicians really are. The most recent scandal is about the Governor of New York busted for paying thousands of dollars for a prostitute, and may have possible been doing this for years. His wife has to face the cameras as if it doesn’t phase her, knowing that deep inside she wants to hurt him as he has hurt her… and not just their marriage, but her reputation, his career, their family. Just image the three teenage daughters being ridiculed in school because this is a huge story and I’m sure everyone around them knows about their father.

Sex scandals are always entertaining to hear about, especially when a politician is busted in an airport bathroom giving foot signals under the stalls, which indicates he is attempting to engage in lewd conduct in a public place. That just astonishes me that he tried to say he has a wide stance and did not know anything about the signals…yet others that are familiar with these signals say that there is no way he did not know because it’s a unified code. He gave more than one signal so there was no question what he was after.

Cover ups are major political scandals and are referred to as “stonewalling”. These types of scandals can be more damaging because when the truth arises and it becomes obvious that the politician was attempting to cover up the wrong doing – and in some cases can even lead to formal criminal charges. The best example of stonewalling would be the Watergate burglary, which involved Nixon and the Clintons.

All in all, politicians are scandalous and not to be trusted, yet we really have no choice because these are the men and women that make it to the top positions to run our country. What I wonder is if these politicians are already corrupt before they make it into office, or if they only become this way after being in a position for a period of time and the system itself is what is corrupted?
