Kyle Busch takes Atlanta by Storm
Kyle Busch takes Atlanta by storm as he takes Toyota to the finish line at two of the three NASCAR races held there this weekend. After a slight rain delay in the morning postponing Craftsman Truck Series practice, Kyle Busch started out by winning the American Commercial Lines 200, Friday Night at Atlanta Motor Speedway. As Busch took the checkered flag at the truck race, Ron Hornaday and Mike Skinner finished behind him in second and third.
At Saturdays Nationwide Series, Kyle Busch did not fair so well. Busch finished 24th and 1 lap down after blowing a tire at the Nicorette 300 at Atlanta. Busch had led 153 laps of the race when his tire blew opening the door for Matt Kenseth and Kevin Harvick to battle it out for first and second. A battle that Kenseth successfully won in his number 17 Arbys Ford.
Sunday faired better for Kyle Busch in the Sprint Cup Series at Atlanta. The Kobalt Tools 500 was an uneventful race with a mere eight cautions. Three of the cautions were due to debris and another three were due to Elliot Sadler not being able to control his car and spinning. Dale Earnhardt JR led 60 of the first 61 laps before turning the lead over to Busch, who was kickin ass and takin names as he lapped driver after driver leaving only 13 cars to finish on the lead lap.
At the Kobalt Tools 500, Kyle Busch gave Toyota their first Sprint Cup Series win. Joe Gibbs Racing was at the top of their game with a One, Two finish for Busch and second place driver Tony Stewart. Busch was also named the youngest driver to win at Atlanta; he will turn 23 on May 2. Jeff Gordon was the previous holder of the title who was 23 years and 6 months at the time of his win.
