The Addiction of Online Gaming

In today’s world with the advances in technology, the online gaming scene is more popular than ever. The games can range from a simple board game to poker with the price being set from free to high monetary stakes. Online gaming can be addictive, a technological version of crack.
It can start out simple, playing a game here and there to fill down time during your day or taking a break from monotonous tasks. However, rarely does it end there. The psychological addiction of winning the game and beating the next player overcomes us. One more game will not hurt, we tell ourselves until hours have passed and we still need another fix.

Some of us are the lucky ones only addicted to the free games that are provided. Not ready or able to venture into the high stakes world of online gaming for money. There are others that are not so lucky. They are sucked in to the slim possibility of winning even more than they bet or even winning the jackpot and becoming an overnight gambling success.

These online gaming additions are detrimental to us, our health, our well-being, our lives, and even our bank accounts. These additions can suck us dry, mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. The online gaming sites reap the benefits of our weakness, our addiction, as we have to try to put our shattered lives back together.

It is only in the wake of our addiction that we will see the trail of devastation that has been left behind. From our shattered dreams to our broken promises the trail of despair that was once our happy lives. Our once active bodies have become a mound of flab and flesh. Our once fertile minds are now a mass of Jell-O without a creative thought. Our once strong relationships with friends and family have become fragile from lack of attention and devotion.

If you decide, you would like to play an online game to kill some time or for a change of pace, you may want to think again. Are you a strong enough person to pull yourself away from the addictive games and get back to your family, your friends, your life? Are you a strong enough person to walk away from just one more change to win the game or beat the odds? The online gaming addiction is sly just like any other. It takes over gradually until finally it owns you.
