Weight Training FAQ

Common questions answered:

Q: Does lifting stunt your growth...?
A: Very rarely does lifting stunt your growth, but it can stunt your growth if you lift at a young age such as from 10-13, and only if you lift extremely heavy weights and damage one of your growth plates. Otherwise, if you don't go to your 1-rep max every workout, you won't stunt your growth.

Q: How much protein should I consume?
A: To start off if you’re a total beginner to lifting, use 1g of protein per lb. of bodyweight you have on you. If you’re not that new but just want to add some mass on your frame, go up a lot higher, maybe even to 400 grams. If you reach that point where you don’t see any gains whatsoever, 9 out of 10 times it’s a problem with your diet.

Q: How often should I change my routine?
A: Switch up your workouts based on how you feel. If you feel you aren’t gaining anymore, switch to a different program. If you feel incredibly tired of working out, perhaps take a break but don’t stop working out all together. Go for low volume workouts to keep your muscle mass in place.

Q: Does high protein diets cause kidney damage?
A: Simply put, no. People may develop it due to a predisposition to it. Some people may just not drink enough water to account for the other substances they are putting into their body.

Q: What about testosterone enhancing supplements?
A: At a young age, there is definitely no need to pay big money for something that will probably have no effect on you and will screw up your hormone production. Young people have enough hormones flowing through their body already to not need these substances.

Q: Are NO2 products good to use?
A: These supplements are useless except for making you temporarily look bigger, through muscular pumps. When use is terminated, these go away and thus the product is useless.

Q: How do I make my arms bigger?
A: Workout both your triceps and biceps. Most people make the mistake of simply working out their biceps – the triceps are large muscles and can add a lot of mass and strength to your arms – don’t neglect them.

Q: Should I use creatine?
A: Most of the time, weight training beginners don’t have enough experience for creatine to work to its fullest extent. Wait until you have around a year of experience before testing it out.

Q: Should I use Cell-Tech?
A: Absolutely not, but this is just my opinion. It’s expensive and leaves a lot of people with cramps. If you must, just go with a regular monohydrate.

Q: How do I gain mass fast?
A: You don’t. It’s a very long and arduous trek to gaining muscle and strength. It can take months and months, even with heavy supplementation. Definitely get a solid diet down. A high protein diet, with low cards, and healthy fats is great for mass gains. Combining this with a good workout routine should have you gaining mass in a matter of a few months.
