Jail Sentence for Assault-By-Pickle



A Michigan man received a jail sentence of time served plus probation for assaulting another man with pickles.  You have to give credit to this guy for his resourcefulness though.

Bobby Lee Boden, 35 years old, from Buchanan, Michigan was sentenced to 54 days in jail and one year probation, with 54 days served for assault with pickles and tampering with phone lines.

On August 20th, he broke into Jody Lee's home, and attacked Lee's friends by throwing two pickles at them.  When they tried to call the police, Boden, took the phone to them and started beating one of the victims with the phone.

I don't really understand how throwing a pickle at someone could be considered assault?  Maybe I am just not that sympathetic, but throwing something that shows no potential to cause any harm at someone should not be classified as assault.

However, I do feel he deserves a stiffer punishment.  Not because of the pickles, but because he beat a guys up with a phone.  I find it ironic though that the pickles are stealing the headlines, including mine!

I guess I am happy he didn't have access to cucumbers, he could have bruised them!

If throwing pickles is assault, would a pillow fight be considered a fire fight?

Around here a lady got arrested for assault for throwing a cheeseburger at a McDonalds employee. Of course, their food does have potential to cause harm regardless of whether it's eaten or you're smacked upside the head with it.
